Chiropractor and Chiropractic Care

Dr. Kristina Stanley, a graduate of Parker Chiropractic College is an employee of Bella Fontana Spa and is a leader in our our growing Chiropractic Care and Therapeutic Services Team.

Parker College of Chiropractic has a very specific philosophy articulated by founder Dr. James Parker included below:

Philosophy – Principles vs. Practice by Dr. James Parker

Parker University

“The body is an electrical (energy) machine, first, and a chemical (matter) factory, second. Electrical (life/intelligence) develops and controls chemical (matter). Simply stated, DCs are electrical (energy) doctors, MDs are chemical (matter) doctors. Chiropractic is based on a Science, a Philosophy and an Art (SPA). The science is a principle, the philosophy is a principle, but the art is not a principle. It is a practice.

Science
The Science of chiropractic is based on the innate normal function of life energy, primarily through the nervous system, which is the master system, both motor and sensory. It controls and regulates all other systems, and normally functions 100 percent quantitatively and qualitatively both motor and sensory. Even though the body is basically chemical, life itself is electrical and controls chemical. It is homogeneous, balanced and present from birth to burial. Therefore, the chiropractic science is a PRINCIPLE. An uninterrupted PRINCIPLE always works.

Philosophy
The Philosophy of chiropractic is the expression of life through the body’s WISDOM, which we call innate intelligence. From our present level of research and understanding, the quantity and quality of this innate life energy is transmitted and expressed through the nervous system in many forms of reflex, relay and delay centers; these forms are presently known as motor and sensory, sympathetic and parasympathetic, voluntary and involuntary, efferent and afferent, and autonomic. It is homogeneous, balanced and present from the cradle to the coffin. Therefore, the Philosophy of chiropractic is a PRINCIPLE. An uninterrupted PRINCIPLE always works.

Art
The art of chiropractic is the technique used to free the nervous system so that this inborn intelligence can provide life from birth to death. There are many techniques which makes the art heterogeneous, but these are all subject to change. And there may be more places than the spine where energy is interfered with, i.e., TMJ, memory, even environment, and maybe other ways and areas not yet known. Any technique to free this innate intelligence without interfering with the body’s WISDOM, whether man or machine or instrument, is the art. The art is a practice, and may change many times from the womb to the tomb based on improvement from scientific research. It is not a principle. The art does not always work and includes all techniques to free energy (intelligence) to heal the body.

Principled chiropractors are those who fulfill the two principles, not the many practices or any particular area of the body. Just as aerodynamics is the principle, and the Wright brothers’ airplane was one practice of that principle, freeing innate intelligence is the principle, and an upper cervical adjustment, for example, is one practice of that principle.”

At Bella Fontana Spa we offer several levels of Chiropractic Examination and the Doctor of Chiropractic provides chiropractic adjustments based on the findings of the exam. A chiropractic adjustment is the use of a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is not moving properly. Adjustments help return bones to a more normal position restoring range of motion and relieving pain and ill health. Spinal adjustments are performed using the doctor’s hands or a specifically designed instrument that delivers a highly accurate thrusting action to move the bone.  After years of training, doctors of chiropractic have selected a variety of methods and has become skilled in the delivery and techniques required to perform adjustments. These are tailored to the patient’s age, condition, size and unique spinal assessment. The result is to normalize spinal function, energy flow and joint mobility. When the nervous system improves through realignment from adjustments, the body begins the natural healing process. Soft tissue manipulation through our massage therapies often supports and accelerates the natural healing process.

Chiropractors are experts in the care of bones, nerves, muscles and connective tissues that make up the majority of the body. The musculo-skeletal system and its optimal function is necessary for overall good health. You deserve it! In addition to adjustments, Dr. Kristina Stanley can assist patients with their nutritional needs, supplements and cleanse programs.

Brief Chiropractic Physical Exam with Report of Findings – Review of patient health history, physical and orthopedic neurological examination.  The Doctor evaluates central and peripheral nervous system of the patient during the examination to determine the patients fatiguability of their nervous system. A person who has other health problems that are affecting their general health or certain medications a patient may be taking can create a fatiguability in the nervous system. A long standing subluxation complex can also fatigue the neural elements at the level of the subluxation. Other types of exams are also offered.  Use our Book Online function to review the various Wellness and Integrative Services.

Chiropractic Adjustment – also called spinal manipulation — involves moving a joint beyond its usual range of motion but not beyond the range of motion the joint is designed to move, anatomically speaking. You often will hear a popping or cracking noise during chiropractic adjustment as the joint is manipulated. The goal of chiropractic adjustment is to relieve pain and improve your body’s physical function. Chiropractic adjustment is performed by a chiropractic doctor. The goal of the chiropractic adjustment is to correct the spinal subluxations detected during the examination. To do that, the doctor applies pressure to the bone and “unlocks” it from its improper position. The bone will then be free to align itself correctly. Many people think that the chiropractor forces a vertebra back into its “proper” place. However, the philosophy and principles of chiropractic define that only the individual’s own Innate Intelligence, or physical and energy ideal,  knows for sure what the proper place for each bone is. The role of the chiropractor is to free up the vertebrae allowing the body to do its job and put them back in the correct position. Massage and soft tissue manipulation are often recommended because the muscles connected to subluxated vertebrae get used to their positions and have a tendency to pull the bone back out of place. It may take several adjustments before the adjustment “holds,” and the bone settles into its proper alignment.
